Meet Barry!

What a story he could tell you if he could talk! Barry was dumped at the strip mines of Appalachia. People who found him were going to shoot him, but a nice woman rescued him. She could not keep him herself, but made sure that Barry is on his way to MARS to be adopted.

Barry is a wonderful companion who wants to know that you are with him and never leaving for long. I think this may have to do with his recent history and having to change foster homes so often during his migration to Minnesota. Every foster that has had Barry falls in love with this little guy. Yet each one has said good-bye and Barry has been left feeling abandoned by yet another family he poured his love in to. (Which is really sad because while a foster may have to say good-bye the pup will have a spot in their heart forever!)

Barry would love a family that is home more often than not. He loves walks and does SO SO wonderfully on a leash. His desire to be right with his person makes him the perfect leashed companion. No pulling from this gentleman. Barry loves to sit in your lap, sleep beside you at night, curl up on a fluffy doggy bed, and collect all of his toys into a pile. Being in a fenced yard is nice but he wants to be by his people so badly that if one leaves the enclosure he will climb the chain link with his toes to escape! Once Barry catches up to the person who left he is calm and ready to be picked up or lead back home.

If you have a family dynamic that would love a tag-along pup then Barry is your guy. He is ready for stability and unending love!

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
