Meet Petey!

Petey was found as a stray and was brought to a shelter where he started to have seizures. Turns out this little guy had ingested rat poison and was able to get to a vet ASAP where he received medical treatment which saved his life!

Throughout all of his ordeal, he remained the sweetest little boy. Very gentle and loving through all of his medical procedures.

Petey just had his bloodwork rechecked.... and he is back to full health!

Update from foster home:
Petey loves to be with his person, go on new adventures, cuddle on the couch and scratch his back on the rug. Purrs like a kitten. He rarely barks and is good alone in the condo while I'm at work. He is very observant on walks and enjoys saying hi to other dogs but is intent on finding new smells. For the most part Petey is good with all types of animals but is a little afraid of larger dogs and little kids. He will growl a warning if he doesn't like something. I think a perfect home for Petey is an older person who would like a walking companion and a lap dog for cozy nights. Young children not recommended.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
