Description:
Jackie's story started out sad. She and her sister Bindy were left alone in the beginning of their life and didn't have the opportunity to interact with humans much. They knew humans provided food and water but didn't feel the sweet and tender touch that we lovingly offer our furry friends. Shelter staff and volunteers felt for these two special girls and showed them how amazing the dog/human bond can be. Jackie's learned how amazing love feels! Now Jackie wants a special human(s) of her very own to love and adore. She's a great dog. She deserves a happy ending. Update from Foster Home: Jackie is initially shy, but it does not take this girl long to warm up! She is a happy girl who LOVES to race around the fenced back yard. She is very quiet and has hardly made a peep. Jackie (we call her Gigi) has come a long ways in many areas...she's full of sass and loves playing with other dogs. She doesn't just run, she hops around the yard...and she loves to run in the yard!! (A fenced yard is a must...she loves to hunt)
She is not kenneled at all in the house, no accidents but may hide things of yours on her blanket. (Socks, gloves, and paper are her favorite things to steal)
She loves to snuggle in bed after getting the blankets "just so." She also loves her morning belly rubs too!!
I'm not sure how she will do with kids. She still hides when new people are introduced--she will need someone patient but I think she will come around quickly if given the chance. Working on leash walking but that will come soon.
I love this little girl so much...she jumps up on the couch and will shower you with kisses when she trusts you.
Remembering the scared girl I first took home...I was nervous she wouldn't recover. Over the last two months specifically, she has blossomed and showed her true beauty.
Please feel free to fill out an ADOPTION APPLICATION by clicking on the button below.
When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
