Description:

Meet Marnie!

Marnie and her 3 babies  came to MARS to find them each a forever home. Marnie is a shy girl who prefers women to men, but responds to kindness and calm. She is done being a mom, and is ready to find a human family of her own. When meeting new people, Marnie the Fawn Princess is cautious and shy, because who knows what kind of treatment she saw in her past. But, a patient person who understands to not force contact with Marnie in the first few minutes, just letting her be and taking to her gently, and using CHEESE or treats to make her comfortable, should quickly see Marnie building trust and becoming the best friend and loyal follower.

Update:
Greetings! Marnie here! I have been staying with a wonderful foster family and their tiny Chihuahua and learning to build trust and be a super-pet.  They recently went on vacation and I went to stay in another foster home with 2 Toy Poodles.  Wow, how much fun I had!  At first, I was very worried about the new environment and would not come out of my kennel. Then, my vacation foster mom used the universal language of peace and friendship - CHEESE!  I couldn't resist and just had to give it a try.  Once I figured out that everyone is nice to me, I found toys and ran around tossing them up in the air, competing with my 6-lb foster sister.  Check out my vacation video!

Once we got tired of that, it was time for bed. First night, I was still  unsure about my new digs, so I stayed in the kennel. The next night, I didn't want to be alone anymore and asked to be in the human bed, where I snoozed the night away buried under the blankets.

In the morning, the first order of business is.. well, business!  I am not a fan of this weather (who is??), but I understand the routine and march out there into the tundra for a walk. I do just fine on the leash.

Despite the foster sister barking at the door and egging me on, I am not really a barker and won't engage in that kind of silly noise making!

I understand that when my humans are at work, it's time for me to go into the kennel. Sorry to show reluctance here..  Oh well.  I will snooze in the kennel until you're home from work and the evening fun begins.

Once I get to know you, I am very affectionate and want to follow my humans around. If you sit down to relax, I so hope you'll let me curl up next to you, but not before I snuggle up to you and shower you with puppy kisses. Everyone says, that with patience and consistency - and CHEESE - I come out of my shell and show you my sweet, affectionate, adorable Marnie self. Check out me in action with my temporary foster mom - in the 2nd video.

I would love to be adopted by a nice person or couple in a quiet household where I will be loved and cherished and can return this love 100-fold.  Would you please, please pick me?

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
