Description:

Lexie is a petite 6 month old black and tan doberman pinscher who weighs about 45 lbs. She has a docked tail and natural ears.  She is the typical happy, friendly, playful puppy.  She loves her people and loves to give kisses. She gets along great with other dogs. She is already house trained and crate trained and rides perfectly in the car.  She did great for her bath, nail trim and ear cleaning.  She is pretty well behaved for such a young girl but she could definitely benefit from obedience training and continued socialization.  Lexie is on the calm, laid back side although she is still in her puppy chewing phase so she does need some supervision and guidance.  She likes to steal pens and pencils but if she has something of her own to chew on she'll leave your stuff alone.  Lexie is super smart and eager to please making her very trainable.  Miss Lexie is so sweet and cuddly with an amazing temperament.  It'll be one lucky family that gets to adopt her.

Lexie came from a high kill shelter on the 28th of December.  More to come as we get to know this young beauty.

**UPDATE**  Lexie went on her first outing to Chuck & Don's.  She was on her best behavior (we won't count the shoplifting episode where she stole a treat at the checkout counter).  Why do they keep such tasty treats at dog level if not for her to sample?  She loved everyone she met and she walked really good with a Gentle Leader considering it's new to her.  Lexie is very social and really enjoys meeting new people and going new places, so important for a young puppy's development.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
