Description:
SOS! Please help this dog! Please read!!! Matt is an older lhasa mix, guessed to be between 9-12 years old, who was found about 4 months ago limping along the street. He was picked up by a good samaritan who has had him since. This man has tried to help Matt, taken him to many vets and has been desperately trying to place him in rescue somewhere. Matt's back legs got progressively worse over these few months and then he lost all use of them. The vet seeing Matt said this is common in Lhasas and that he likely had an old injury, as well as having some fused vertebrae. The vet has said Matt is doing well considering the situation and that he is in less pain now due to acupuncture treatments. Matt is in need of new placement ASAP. he is incontient but can wear diapers. Matt is still a sweet guy full of life and love. He gets along fine with other dogs. Has not been by kids or cats but would probably be fine. He is a gentle, sweet guy. He eats and drinks well and when he was first found 4 months ago, his bloodwork was normal. Matt can get around pretty well with his wheelchair/cart, which will go with him. He has developed cataracts but the vet has not said it is time to let him go. Others who met him agree. This little dog has been a fighter through all of this and can do even better in the hands of someone who can care for him more. Matt just needs a place to call home, a place to crash where he can be loved and cared for appropriately. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
