Description:
This is Barley!!! Barley had been sitting in a cold cell at the pound just looking for someone to rescue him. What did this baby do to deserve this? He is very happy to have a foster home to care for him now. He hated that concrete floor. Barley is a cute little fawn colored terrier mix who weighs in at about 25 pounds. He is approximately 5-6 months old, so he is very much a puppy. He is very friendly and wags his whole body when he gets excited! Barley loves to play and wants to cover everyone in kisses. He just squirms with joy when he gets a belly rub. Barley would love to have a home with lots of toys, or other dogs to play with. One interesting fact is that his feet have more webbing than most dogs. Please help this young boy find a home. Barley is sooooo sweet. He is going to make someone a GREAT pet. Barley behaved in the car on the way to our house, but he was very excited and not sure where he was going. He does well with both the cat and the dog. He is curious of the Kitty but does not go after it. He got a bath within an hour of getting home and did very well with it. He is also a very loyal dog. He follows you everywhere you go. He stays by your side and prefers to be a lap dog. He slept well in his crate all night with no whining. Of course he needed to be by the bedside so he can see you. He loves to give kisses, cuddle with you, and sit on your lap. He goes potty outside but still needs a little more training. I notice him sniffing around and then take him outside. He inhales his food, so to slow him down I am hand feeding him and making him sit before gets a small handful of it. If you just let him eat the food will be gone in 3 seconds flat. He learned he has to be calm in order to get it so he is learning fast. He has probably been very hungry in the past. Barley is lanky. He hasn't quite learned how to use those long legs. he tends to trip over them and doesn't know he can jump up on the couch so he crawls up. (I know I shouldn't be teaching him he can be on the furniture, but after seeing the sores from the hard concrete floor I didn't have the heart to kick him off) I think he likes this idea of being on the couch. He is such a good boy. For being a puppy he responds well to the slightest corrections and learns so fast. Please feel free to fill out an Adoption Application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
