Description:

Mia is a wonderful dog looking for some stability in her life. She was adopted and returned to the pound 2x for minor problems that weren't her fault. Her minor problems were occasional seizures and minor incontinence...mainly excited piddling. Due to these minor problems, she was about to be euthanized for space so MARS stepped in and saved her. She is on meds 2x a day for these minor issues and it can be managed for a low price monthly. Below is an update from her foster home.

Since coming to our home Mia follows me from room to room.  If I had the time she would enjoy being petted for hours.  Mia is crated during the day while we are at work.  When we get home she is so excited that she will pick up a shoe, sock, piece of paper anything that is handy and run to the door.  We assume that at her previous home this was a time that she was taken out for exercise. She loves to go for walks! She also loves rawhide chews but they don't last very long, she is very focused once she starts. Mia also likes to play with stuffed toys, but after carrying them around for awhile she destuffs them.   She is good with the 2 canine siblings she lives with, although annoyed with the young, rowdy pup at times. This girl has the patience of a saint.

Mia has not had any seizures or had any problems with accidents in the house.  We have been feeding her twice a day which makes it very easy to give her the medication.  Wrapped in a small slice of cheese the pills go right down. Do not let the medication scare you away from having this girl make your life richer. You will fall in love with her as soon as you meet her! So come meet her today!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
