Description:
Yay!!!! I have a great new forever home! It is me and my new mom and she is the BEST!!! Thanks to my wonderful Foster mom for getting me ready to go HOME!

Meet Oso!

Oso is the sweetest little dog. He is gentle, happy and loving. He gets along well with other dogs and is just a joy to be around.

Some small children were very mean to Oso in the past, so we do not want to place him in a home with very small children. Oso was fine with a volunteer's three year old so he is not child aggressive, we just want him to feel comfortable after what the children in his past have done to him.

A Note From Oso/Sparky's Foster Mom:

"Sparky is a great little dog, enthusiasm with a tail!!! I wonder if he would like to be an agility dog. He is affectionate and loves to snuggle on my lap or lay in a doggy bed next to me as I work at the computer. He has already learned his name and comes when called (in the house). He has also learned what "wait" means at the front door, also starting to learn "sit" and "lie down." He takes gentle correction very quickly, happy to move on to the next thing.

He gets along very well with my little female Pomeranian and actually plays with and trades grooming with the 2 older kitties. When offered treats, he takes them gently. Enjoys chewing on real bones. For toys, he likes squeaking them, then tearing them to shreds so I've given him 2 balls that he likes that he won't be able to swallow. He hasn't chewed anything that isn't his.

He likes walks and if he can get a 10-20 minute walk, he can get all of his business taken care of. He is not perfectly house trained yet but he is pretty young so I think he'll pick it up soon. For now, he is crated all night without complaint -- has a couple of times awakened me in the wee hours (pardon the pun) but he did go potty outside and came in and went back to sleep. Oh, and he has a cute little trick -- sometimes he pees with both back legs in the air, really.

Right now, he still needs more socialization, meeting more people and more dogs because he gets pretty upset when they come to the house but he settles down after a bit. He met my dog on neutral ground and they have never had a problem.

He is soft and gentle and even though I have had to put him in his kennel, give him baths, cut mats out of his fur, take toy stuffing out of his mouth, he has never tried to bite or even growl at me.

I think Sparky would be a great friend to some nice person for a long time."

This boy will surely steal your heart!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
