She is timid around children so we are looking for a home without kids for this sweet girl.

Here is an update from Lily's foster family:

Our sweet Lily rabbit, when she first came to our home she was a little shy and nervous, but bold and curious about us and what was going on in the household, she shortly became accustom to the people and the other animals in our pack (3 kids, another dog, 2 cats and a free roaming ferret).  But she is still leery about strangers on her turf, especially the young ones and does not quite know how to behave with them.

She is a complete cuddle monster with her foster family and is always jocking for the spot on the bed where she can rest her head close enough so you can gentle pull on her ears- she is the best spooner you will ever meet!  That being said she also enjoys her house (kennel)- she feels very safe and is just as happy sleeping there when her foster mom is not at home.

She and her foster sister (12 yr old husky Sheppard mix- she tires quickly) will play and run in the yard, but she absolutely LOVES going to the dog park and meeting up with her younger friends for a good ol’ romp and high speed chase-although she is always good about checking on her foster sister to see if she wants to play yet.  She is good with our cats and ferret but will give chase if they are teasing her – they are more than effective in letting her know if it is NOT play time and she is respectful of their space when they are not in the mood (she and the cats have shared a bed  on more than one occasion).

She is a quick learner- she will sit, lay down and leave it, although she is not a fan of the lease and still pulls when walked on one, we are confident that she would learn that “the leash is her friend” if she was on one more (between the dog park, fenced yard and other spaces she is exposed too often that a leash is not required- she is not on a leash very much).  So needless to say she comes when she is called and she comes just in hopes you are going to give her some love and pull on her ears- no treats needed but always welcome.

Lily currently is kenneled when no one is home but is not kenneled at night – she goes between her kennel and a bed throughout the night and does great.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
