"Do not judge a book by its cover"

HI I am Oliver,

I may not be a cute little princess, or a giant manly beast of a dog, but I am the most loveable and charming dog on the inside.

I stayed with my emergency foster family for 4 days and I managed to make my way into their hearts, especially their six year old son, who was for sure my favorite human there. I loved to go outside in their fenced in back yard and have him throw the tennis ball for me. I ran, got it, and brought it back to him and gently dropped it in his hand.

I loved being outside and smelling everything their own dog had touched. They have a JRT/beagle mix and I took a liking to him. He let me know when I was invading his territory, that's for sure, but I backed off as soon as that little dog told me to. I definitely wanted to "big brother" the dog because he was smaller than me and I liked to place my paw gently on his back and try to fit my mouth on his neck...lovingly though, and show him that I was there to take care of him.

I stayed in my crate, with a soft blanket they gave to me, all day while they were at work and school, and I was content the whole time. I do sleep in my crate at night, I don't really like this though, I mean I go in fine and lay down, but about half hour later I whine a little to let those humans know that their bed looks much more comfy than mine. They tell me its time for bed and I will reluctantly stop and lay down, but I really wish they would just let me sleep with them or on their couch I really loved!!

I still have some puppy left in me as I think its fun to pick up shoes, socks, or whatever I happen to think looks good, and put it in my mouth and slowly walk around with it, but as soon as the humans said "no, drop it" I obeyed perfectly. I didn't damage or chew on anything I just really wanted something in my mouth. I don't really bark much, sometimes when their dog was barking at the neighbor dogs incessantly, I would join in for a bark or two, but I am not nearly as annoying as those dogs were!! In my spare time I like to lounge on the floor, anywhere I am I will just flop down, it also seems to make the humans think I am cute and they come pet me. Chasing a tennis ball is a lot of fun I also like to chew on chew toys. I will hop right up in your lap and lay down on you and love you so much!

Overall I would say I am a pretty good catch, I know its always important to prospective families to know how we doggies are with kids and other dogs, I am PERFECT, not to yank my own chain or anything, really I was a good man-dog

Give me a chance, you won't regret it!!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
