Description:
This is a note from Mercury's foster parents, what can we say, this lil man is a spit-fire, tons of energy and spunk and will lick your face off. He barks only to let you know someone is at the door so that's a perk. He loves his little fuzzy blanket and where ever you put it he will follow you and lay down on it, we almost want to name him Linus from the Peanuts! He's a great eater, at first he was standing over his bowl and scarfing it down the moment you left his bowl but he's a quick learner and we've taught him to wait before we walk away and say, "ok, get it" before he starts eating. He's not food aggressive, you can put your hand in his food bowl while he's eating and he'll just back up and look at you like, "hey, why are you in my food bowl?!?" He's the most gentle dog, you can pull his ears, you can touch his feet, you can pick him up and Mercury just doesn't care, he just wants attention and takes it all in once he gets it. He will curl up in the smallest ball next to you and keep you and himself warm. He knows when he needs to go in the kennel and goes willingly, may need a little coaxing, but he goes in no problem. He lives with his fur-brother Tanner and they get along GREAT, he would be perfect to go to a home with another fur brother or sister because he's so smart that he would learn from the other one quickly. He's a great walker, like I said he's super smart and has learned not to tug on the leash. Mercury is a jumper ONLY when you get home from work and you let him out of his kennel, that's it, other then that he does not jump. He does not jump up on furniture, in fact its so adorable how diligent he is getting up on the couch its like he sneaks up and curls up in the tiniest ball, we call him the python as well because that little guy can curl up and his big meat head just sticks out. He's great around kids and does not snip or bite, like I said, this guy is so gentle the only thing he'll do is love you unconditionally and lick your face off. Please give this guy a home he deserves, we would keep him, but we're foster parents, if we were to keep him I would have to own a farm to keep all the foster dogs, and that's just not going to happen. Mercury knows Sit, Stay, Lay Down, Leave It, and were currently working on Shake. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
