Description:
Meet Rocky! Rocky's had a really rough life. Growing up as a puppy mill dog, he was used only to breed and then placed back in his wire cage. He knew nothing of people or other dogs as he was never let out of his cage to potty or exercise. Poor Rocky spent the first two years of his life living in nothing but a squaller. One day an angel came and rescued Rocky. She brought him to her house where he was kept in a warm kennel with a place to potty and a different place to sleep. He had room to move around and room to stretch. Life was the best ever for this sweet boy. His angel took things very slowly and started to introduce him to humans and other animals. He made best friends with a female GSD pup named Twerp and they played for hours. Rocky has come a long way in his six month rehab and his angel is finally comfortable placing him into a home with an experienced GSD owner. He will need a strong pack leader to remind him that he isn't in charge and to teach him that it's ok to trust again. Rocky's angel rehabilitates a lot of GSD's but unfortunately they live outdoors so we would like to get him into a foster home before it gets too cold. As a perk for fostering with MARS, you and Rocky will get to attend FREE obedience classes at our office in Brooklyn Park. What a great way to bond with Rocky right from the start. He LOVES his rubber Chuckit balls, which last about 3
months from chewing and playing toss - "when I want you to."(He's on his 3rd
because one is lost somewhere in the yard or garage.) He enjoys his big
backyard, but is also great on leash. We have dog families around our
backyard fence which he ignores for the most part, rarely barking at or with
them. He barks at visitors in the house, warning them that this is his home.
All in all, he is a wonderful addition to our family. He brings us love, joy
and laughs. We made a great choice when we adopted him!!!When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
