My name is Gibson and I want to meet you.

Look at this stunning boy!

  • I love other dogs
  • I am well behaved
  • I am housebroken
  • I am crate trained

A bit shy when I first meet a stranger, as I came from a very unsocialized situation, but I warm up when I know I can trust you and then look out!  I am loyal and loving and I just want to sit on a warm couch with you and watch a movie!  I will even let you pick the movie!  Oh and popcorn, will you share?

Update from foster:

Gibson is a wonderful dog. He's the kind of dog everyone wishes for--quiet, non destructive, completely housetrained, great with other dogs cats and kids, happy to ride in the car for errands or sleep in his kennel when you need to be out longer. He's also very attentive to his master and really likes to cuddle.

He loves from the core of his being and longs for it to be shown back to him. You just look into his eyes, he puts his paw over your arm, and you know he is choosing you. That makes it frustrating when he reverts to his scared side, but in your heart you keep working with him because he's asking you to not give up. This will take patience. He is finally emerging into a world of safe places and happy humans and loving families! This is new for him and he is trying so hard to learn to trust that life can keep providing this for him. He needs a special family that can keep working on building those positive experiences. A special family to downplay his shyness and build his confidence. One that understands a scared bark can be soothed by a calm response.

We take him everywhere and I think the constant exposure to new people, things, and environments has helped him loosen up a lot. He now can take most things in stride. A home with another dog or dogs is a must. Gibby really gets his cues from our dogs. He feels more confident playing and coming up to people by watching the happy dog's body language. It also takes the pressure off him when asked to obey a command. It's very easy to watch his demeanor change when the intensity of a particular moment shifts his way--such as the other dogs loading up in the car and he's left standing there. :) He doesn't want to be left behind. It's funny to me and I try to downplay it for him. He usually responds very well.
He will sit very well on cue and take treats gently.  He responds to his name like a pro and is getting good at coming when called. He love love loves to play with me and the other dogs. One of his favorites is stealing our other dog's tennis ball and prancing around like a naughty fellow. Another fav of his is indeed watching movies. He will lie on the couch with you for hours. Good thing he also likes playing in the snow--we are shaping up to have some winter!!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
