Description:
Miles came to us quite a while ago from an impound facility, where he was scheduled to be euthanized. When we rescued him, we realized that his left back leg was dislocated at the hip socket. The vet confirmed he had been suffering like this for quite a while. With the help and dedication of some fabulous angels, enough money was raised to fix Miles' leg. He now can run and play like any normal dog! However, this sweet boy still has special needs. Miles is a very shy boy. He can be scared of new people or situations, so when meeting new people, he needs to be given his space, and be allowed to meet them on his own time frame. He also suffers from separation anxiety. He has lived with a dog trainer the past 2 months, and can now be crated and left alone for a number of hours, but still doesn't do well if left alone for a full day. He doesn't understand that he won't be left alone forever! But you will not find a sweeter, more loving companion than Miles. As long as he can be next to his person, he is happy as a clam. He is quiet, calm, and well behaved in the house. He rides beautifully in the car. Loves his daily walks. He loves affection, and gives much in return. He is curious about cats, but never aggressive. He can be fearful of other dogs, but as long as he is slowly introduced, he is fine around them. He's more comfortable with larger dogs. Because of his fear of strange people, he should not go to a home with strangers/kids coming and going frequently. We know that somewhere out there is a home for him. A home that is quiet, with someone around quite a bit. A home looking for a loyal, loving, devoted friend. URGENT: Miles needs a temporary foster home, while we work to find a forever home. We cover all authorized medical expenses and other necessary supplies as needed. You simply provide a safe, loving home! Why not take this opportunity to make a huge difference in the life of a sweet boy who needs some help? Contact us to find out how easy it is to get involved in foster care. Please feel free to fill out a FOSTER or an ADOPTION APPLICATION on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
