About Celine

  • She is very smart!
  • She loves to dance.
  • She LOVES to cuddle.
  • She LOVES face smooshes.
  • She LOVES toys.
  • She LOVES to play with other dogs and has used good body language.
  • She LOVES food, so positive training has been well received.
  • She is fully potty trained!
  • She is leash trained (wrap around leash in case she gets scared)
  • She is trained to sleep on a dog bed OR in a crate, she picks.
  • She is crate trained.
  • She "talks" with weird little trills.
  • She knows: shake, sit, go bed, come, go house (crate), go potty
  • She is very affectionate
  • Volunteers to get her ears cleaned and tolerates being bathed

Her ideal household would be with someone who wants a cuddle buddy and likes to go for walks. She's happiest snuggled up and getting pet or getting her face smooshed. Her new caregiver needs dog experience, patience and no small children. (Celine loves kids but with her fear background keeping her in a home with unpredictable small children doesn't set her up for success.) Celine needs a nice cache of toys and chew things to keep her out of trouble. She'll also need to wear a muzzle when going to the vet, her last visit went really well but with her fear history a muzzle is a must. She would be fine in a home with our without other dogs but shouldn't be place in a home with other small animals though because she has terrier level prey drive.

At her foster home she sleeps in a dog bed or an open crate with the other dogs. She is fully potty trained and will "go potty" on command. She loves playing with other dogs and has done really well with the dogs she's met, smaller and much larger dogs. While she's been fine with the other foster dogs most of the time at first she showed some resource guarding. Her new owner(s) will need to keep her in check to help keep those tendencies a non issue, examples are feeding her separately or removing her from a couch if she's trying to guard a human. Once she knows house rules and boundaries she's been good at following them.

*Celine
did test positive for heartworm and is now Heartworm negative after receiving treatment provided by MARS to live a long healthy life.

*A dog with Heartworms is not directly contagious to other animals. Heartworms are transmitted by an infected mosquito.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
