Description:
The Curious Tale of Sir Goose and Goatboy You've never met a dog like Goose- he is a very "large" dog in a modest 25 lb package. Sir Goose is a busy boy with a busy mouth! He displays Min Pin snout and ears, Boston terrier eyes and size, and a Boxer's butt. Goose needs limits- he must be told what's appropriate to chew, and what isn't. Everyday. Goose needs his kennel- he likes chilling in there with the door open and a blanket draped over the top, and needs to be secured in his kennel at night. Goose loves other dogs, especially larger sized girls. Goose displays dominance without aggression towards other dogs, but will assert himself very forcefully with his mouth when he feels overwhelmed by rough play. Goose's mouth is NOT to be trusted! When Sir Goose goes into The Chew Zone, he loses a bit of his mind that holds him in check and Goatboy comes out. Unlike Sir Goose, Goatboy has no real bite inhibition! At times like this, Goose needs a break with some time and space to himself. He's a very smart, very affectionate dog, but not the greatest cuddler. Goose needs to live with a firm and loving hand to help develop his self-control. He needs real brainwork everyday to stay happy, and would do best in a home with other dogs that can accept his differences. He does very well with submissive dogs but wanna-be alphas already living in a home will have trouble at first with Goose. Intros should be made over the course of days, not hours. Goose needs a variety of things to chew- soft toys are his jam, but don't expect them to last too long. Bones, nylabones, horn and heavy leather toys are all favorites too! Goose is a dog who requires supervision, but he walks lovely on his gentle lead and could live with anyone who understands the importance of limits to him. Goose comes with a MARS trainer to help him settle successfully and transition into his new Forever Home!
*Goat had previously undergone treatment for heartworm disease and will need to be re tested in a few months to ensure treatment was a success. This test is covered in his adoption fee. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
