Description:

I know she’s absolutely ADORABLE, but please read her full bio, as there are some things that we’d like for you to know before considering applying.

Little miss Rhu came up from Texas with her mama when she was just a week old. She’s going on 8 weeks now is everything puppy- she LOVES to play with every dog and human she meets, chews on pretty much everything she can get her mouth on (including your hands, clothes, hair, etc) and is in the process of learning where to go potty.

She is so so sweet and just a joy to have around! She plays hard and sleeps hard (and even snores!) and is just a cuddle bug! With that being said, there are some things you should know that we would consider to be crucial in her new home. Rhu has been living with 3 other dogs since she came up from Texas- a pit mix, a min pin and her boxer mama. Rhu loves them all and would do best in a home with a furry companion. However, Rhu’s mama is about the sweetest thing in the world and never really told her when enough was enough, so ideally, she would have a very tolerant and playful furry companion. Next, she has met kids, and given her age, obviously doesn’t understand they aren’t chew toys, so if you have little ones, I would not leave them unattended with one another. Also, I have a very unique job in the sense that my dogs come to work with me all day everyday- meaning, she has never had to be in a kennel. When she was a tiny puppy and had to be with her mama most of the time, they had a room to themselves at our house, which she still hangs out in when we’re not home, but we’ve never left her for more than a few hours. She does still sleep in the room at night with her mama and they do very well together, but if Rhu is left in the room alone, she will let you know she is not happy. She does calm down after a little while, but definitely prefers to be with her people and pups.

This doesn’t mean she couldn’t be kennel trained, but if you have a situation where she’ll have to be home 8-10 hours alone while you’re at work, she probably isn’t the puppy for you. Rhu would preferably go to a home where she spends very little time home alone and will have a 4-legged sibling (a tolerant one is almost a must). If you don’t have another pup in the home, keeping her socialized with many others is going to be VERY important. Mama is a purebred white boxer, but we’re not sure who dad is- she has beautiful brindle markings with little white socks on her feet and is definitely going to be a good size pup! Her mama is absolutely amazing, so if Rhu ends up anything like her, you’ll be lucky to have her!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
