Description:

Evie came up to MN after unexpectedly giving birth the one little puppy- we brought them both home when her puppy was only about a week old and have loved every minute of having them both! To no one’s surprise, her baby Rhu was flooded with applications, but now it’s Evie’s turn, and to be honest, making the decision to list her was one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make throughout all of our fostering experiences…

Evie is no doubt one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. She loves all humans and dogs, big and small, loves snuggling on the couch, keeping herself busy with toys or wrestling with our pups. She does not have an ounce of aggression in her entire body and responds very well to redirection. Her and our pit bull are inseparable and spend 90% of the day playing, giving each other kisses and snuggling. She is not food or toy reactive and wants nothing more than to love you. She is completely potty trained and does not stay in a crate when we leave- she’s normally extremely well behaved when we’re gone while she gets to hang out with our other pups, but we do put most items that we may be concerned about out of reach (shoes, etc) and she’s normally great! We’ve also learned Evie almost never barks, which is quite rare in her noisy breed, so that was a pleasant surprise!

When she arrived, she clearly had never had training- she didn’t know any commands or basic words like sit, potty, treat, walk, etc. but she’s a quick learner! She enjoys treats but is always cautious when taking them and has the gentlest mouth- she could take treats from a baby with no worries! The only thing I would say we’ve had to work hard on with her is not jumping when she gets so excited (she just wants to give everyone kisses, but we know not everyone appreciates that!) and walking on a leash- It seemed like she had never been on one before but is learning very quickly and is eager to please you during any training.

Evie has had it pretty good since arriving if I do say so myself- she’s gotten to live with other dogs, come to work all day every day (so is rarely left home alone) with lots of furry friends to play with and gets aot of exercise and activity. Ideally, Evie would go to a home that has another dog because she needs thecompanionship. I’d also love it if the new family worked from home. I do believe Evie could get some anxiety if left alone for too long and that drastic change in schedule would be really hard on her. There’s no doubt she’s become quite attached to us and our schedule, so she does her best to never let you leave without her. Also, Evie’s favorite thing in the whole world is taking a toy outside into a fenced in area and throwing it up in the air and making hot laps, so I’d consider a fenced in yard to be important.Even though this gal is from Texas, she LOVES the snow, and the cold does not seem to bother her! Overall, she is an amazing dog who gives nothing but love regardless of her past. She deserves the absolute best home and won’t stop until we find it!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
