Meet Rio!

Rio is a 2 year old Great Dane mix. She is one great dog! She gets along with everybody. She is also very quiet, she hardly barks at all.
She'll make a wonderful companion for one lucky adopter.

Rio was found tied to the fence in back of an animal control facility. Can you believe that someone would do that do a great gal like Rio??

She really needs a loving family that won't just tie her out and forget her. She just wants to be loved! And besides, look at that face and tell me you don't want to just grab those cheeks and kiss her nose!

Here's what Rio's foster home has to say about the beautiful girl:

"Rio is a sweet little girl to say the least! Lets just say she likes kids and big goofy dogs! She got a bath, a well deserved and seriously needed brushing, ate a huge bowl of food with my hand in it from time to time, and kids pulling on her ears and tail as well and she hasn't made a grumpy sound yet:-) Until Beaner(the doggy) boxed her upside the head trying to play. But when he hits me like that I growl too! She really is a good girl though and just needs someone to treat her nice and feed her some good food. She does need to gain a few pounds. She is as tall as our 80# Lab/American Bulldog mix but only weighs 55#'s. So feed her good and get that fixed and she would be just about perfect. The only thing missing is a bark. She has been around other dogs on transport, at the shelter she came from, and now here and not a peep. Can't have a dog without an occasional bark can ya? :-) She is great!"

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
