Meet Merry!

Merry is new to our rescue! We are still learning about her, but so far she's been friends with all the new doggies she meets. She loves to play with her foster siblings, and she especially loves to inspect every inch of the yard with her nose to the ground. She is very houndy and will need to be double leashed on walks for a bit and always walked with a harness and not a flat collar. She is pretty easy to walk (on a beagle-adjusted scale). She will be a typical beagle and cannot be let outside to potty without a fence or leash, and she will need daily exercise.

She's seems to understand that outside is where potty happens. She's being watched very closely in her foster home, and she has only had one accident on her second day here when we weren't paying attention to her cues.

Merry seems confident, calm, very sweet and eager to please. She is gentle with people, has been very quiet, and loves to curl up on the couch with you after her nightly walk. She listens well and learns quickly. She tries to understand what her people want from her and to make them happy. She learned "sit" and "lay down" very quickly. She is treat-motivated and so happy to learn more.

She does great in the car and crates well for the work day. She has not shown any food or toy aggression. She seems like she'll be a girl who can fit into many different family situations. Overall she is just a joy!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
