Meet Charleigh!

Charleigh is a playful, loving, super intelligent pup.  She’s great with kids and other dogs.  She outweighs the resident 13 year old Jack Russell  Terrier by 20 pounds and is fine letting him be top dog.  She’s been in her foster home for a little over a week and already knows several commands (she’s very food motivated!).  She’s learning not to jump up on people, to sit when she wants attention, to sit while waiting to be fed, and to stay off furniture (unless invited during family TV time).  Her compliance isn’t always perfect, but she is SO smart that we’re confident it won’t take long if rules are consistently enforced.

House training is going well, but she will still have accidents if not let out regularly (as any puppy will).  She wants nothing more than to please her people, so she reacts very bashfully to being corrected.  Charleigh has lots of puppy energy.  A brisk walk in the morning and another in the evening are essential for keeping her relaxed and well behaved.

We are working on kennel training.  She willingly goes into her kennel, but cries for awhile after the door closes.  She hasn’t been left in the kennel for more than a few hours at this point.  At night time Charleigh has been sleeping on the floor next our daughter’s bed.  She sleeps well and does not have accidents in the middle of the night.

Charleigh will be a fantastic addition to an active household either with playful kids or adults who are looking for an exercise companion.
