Hi, my name is Mickey!

I know, I know...I was laying on a girly blanket, and someone took my picture! But, in my defense, it was really soft!

Me and my friend Mac are looking for new homes. We've been living together, but our owner is elderly and not able to care for us any more. Because of that, we had to spend more and more time outside lately. We've mostly only been in to sleep. We'd like more attention than that, so MARS offered to help.

We just arrived in rescue, and are settling in to our foster homes. Fortunately there is a cute little pomeranian girl at our foster home. She is really trying hard to make us feel comfortable (see our pictures below).

I have good news! Mac has been adopted! Now, it's my turn. I would really like to have another canine companion to spend time with in my new home.

Update from foster home:

Mickey is quite the character!  He LOVES attention and will budge in front of the other dogs and push them out of the way so he can be the one to get pet.  He has started playing with the other dogs and we've been taking him on walks.  He is nervous to start, but is doing extremely well seeing he was never walked in his previous home.  He is wagging his tail all the time now and LOVES treats.   Now that he is on a schedule and let outside on a regular basis... there have been no accidents in the house!  He is very smart and a quick learner.  He would do fine in a home with other dogs or by himself as long as his new owner spends time with him, gives him affection....and exercise.

He has started barking and is responding well to correction.  He would do GREAT in an obedience class and with consistent boundaries he will make a wonderful pet!

A fenced yard is recommended for Mickey at this time.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
