Description:
Hi, My official name is Caramel, but my foster mom said I needed a prettier name, so she calls me Lola! I'm a very happy girl. I love everyone I meet! I'm so happy when I meet new people that I wag my whole body, and flash you an ear to ear grin! My foster mom said I should be careful smiling so much....that I could scare people away because you can see my teeth when I smile. But, I'm just too happy, so wherever I go to live, they'll need to be used to my "bully girl" smile!
I get along great with most other dogs, There is a shepherd and a little pug dog at my foster home. I mostly ignore the little one, and play with the shepherd. But, we are both quite competitive, so if mom goes out and throws one ball for both of us to chase after, we have learned we need two balls. We are just too competitive to get along well. Now mom takes us out one at a time to play fetch....then we are happy. My foster mom has said I'm very smart. She has taught me a lot of new things since I've been here. I'm a really good girl. I stay off the furniture unless I'm invited to come up, I come when called, and don't chew on things, or get in to things that I'm not supposed to have. You see, as far as I'm concerned, living in a house is the good life. Before my foster mom took me in, I was living at the dog pound for a while. Boy was that a drag! I'm so happy to be part of a family again! But, my fur sibling doesn't really want me to stay here anymore. He wants all the toys to himself. So, now I need to find a new foster or forever home. Do I sound like your kind of girl? I can guarantee plenty of laughs and smiles with me around. I'm quite the little comedian!
I hope to meet you soon! Love, Lola (AKA Caramel) AN UPDATE FROM HER FOSTER HOME: Are you looking for a great family dog, one that will follow your kids everywhere? A dog that will fetch, retrieve, swim, and learn new commands quickly? Are you looking for an active dog or one that easily settles down in the house? Do you want a dog that greets you with great gusto or a dog to cuddle? Do you want a strong, sturdy canine that will watch over your home?
Then you need to meet Lola. 50 tiny pounds of dynamite. She is quiet, obedient, clean and classy. She is silly, playful, active and fun.
Lola has the big dog persona, strong and confident. She has the convenience of a small dog, and loves to curl up on your lap. She is very eager to learn, she tries hard to do what people ask of her. She does not chew or destroy things. She lets kids dress her up and paint her nails. She rides nicely in the car and walks on a leash. She loves the water and squeaky toys.
Lola's drawbacks? If it runs fast (squirrel or cat) she will chase it. She is strong; she will pull if not corrected. She is the Leader, if other dogs don't acknowledge, she will "tell" them.
Lola came to MARS as a stray. I took her in as a foster dog, to give her the chance to live and learn in a home on how to be a good pet. Instead, she has taught me: how to smile at each day, chase frogs, sun your belly regardless of who is watching, and never ever hold a grudge.
URGENT: Caramel needs a temporary foster home, while we work to find a forever home. We cover all authorized medical expenses. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
