Description:
Hi, my name is Onyx! Wanna know what a sweet girl like me was doing stuck in jail? So did I! I'm pretty sure my family opened up the front door, let me out and closed it behind me! I was picked up as a stray, and when my family was contacted to come get me, they said they weren't going to! I guess they couldn't afford to keep me any more. I'm a really nice dog, so I'm sure it's not because of anything I did. So, I was stuck in jail, but I just got out and am settling in to a nice foster home. I'm a fairly big girl at around 70-75 pounds. I'm a typical labby girl in that I absolutely love to play with toys...see my pictures. I know how to sit and am very friendly. I'm quick to flip on to my back if you're willing to give me a belly rub! Oh, I also love treats! I'd probably be pretty easily trained since I'm very food motivated. Can I come stay with you? I'd love you forever! Love Onyx An Update From The Foster Home: Onyx is a very sweet dog. She likes to play with the other 2 dogs at the house. Onyx is potty trained and crate trained. She likes to play chase and wrestle plus enjoys tennis balls, bones and sticks. She is a cuddler and will lean in to you when you pet her. She has alot of puppy behaviors that could be corrected with obedience training. Onyx does know sit and down. She acts like a typically lab wanting to know what is going on and follows you around the house unless she is busy playing. She is doing well getting her feet wiped when she comes in the house although she prefers to flop on her side to get her feet wiped. P.S. Onyx has a thing for bananas!! Last night she pulled my bag down from the cedar chest and took the banana out and started eating it. I took it from her and peeled the banana for her. She was so excited and kept coming back for more. Please feel free to fill out an Adoption application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
