Description:
“Oxford” translates to: “the sweetest, funniest, most adorable pup you’ve ever seen.”

Oxford is such a loving pup. Always happy and  very excited to meet new people. He loves giving kisses and will take belly scratches from anyone anytime anywhere! Gets along with other dogs. Though he hasn’t had time to really let loose with any other pals off leash (because he was recently neutered and still has stitches) we think he would have a blast running and playing with other canine friends. He seems to be fine with cats for the most part. He is very interested in them and likes to sniff. If they walk away he usually looses interest. He mostly wishes they would play with him.

He is about 2 years old but could pass for 6 months. He is very playful! He loves chewing and wrestling with stuffed toys.He is hilarious to watch, tossing his toy and jumping in the air. He does fine by himself while we are at work. He seems to snooze the afternoon away. We also have done a few short tests of the kennel and he doesn’t seem to mind that either. He doesn’t show any signs of resource guarding. I have taken rawhide, nylabones and antlers from his mouth with no problems. He has a very soft mouth and takes treats very well.

He is a very curious boy. He walks pretty well on a leash, mostly because he is so interested in all the sights and smells that he really takes his time to take it all in. Additionally, he has decided that he likes to take a little break part way through walks for some love and belly rubs. Though he does love to play and has fantastic energy, he is able to calm himself down. We always laugh at how fast he falls asleep and starts snoring!

Overall we think Oxford would make an incredible companion. He would really shine with someone who would work with him on obedience and some other type of “job”, whether it be agility or some other activity to harness all his mental and physical potential. He still needs to learn some boundaries but is very very trainable. He absolutely adores his people and would work very hard to make them happy!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
