Description:
Hey! I see ya peeking at me!! My name's Charlotte which is a pretty good name for me. My foster mom tells me that it means two things, "little & feminine" and/or "free man". Either one, they both fit me! Can I tell you my story? Some people meet me and whisper under their breath that I am the ugly duckling. My foster mom says "no way!" that I am the swan. Fooey! I'm no duck and I ain't no swan! I'm a princess! Once upon a time, I was held hostage in a nasty prison by an evil puppy miller with a big wart on her nose and a high pitched cackle that made my blood chill. (Okay, okay - what's a story without a little dramatic license??) My sole purpose in life was to produce more little princesses and princes just like me. Enough! I was meant for bigger and better things! I guess I wasn't working out so well because I had to have surgery to get my puppies out and the breeder didn't need me anymore. Ha! Good for me right? In storms my knight(ess) in shining armor (a minivan) and sweeps me away from the smelly ol' jail cell and promises me a better life! (About time!) WOO HOO! I was bathed and brushed, got my teeth cleaned and now I am all healthy again. No more little princes or princesses for me anymore! I am the fairest in the land for the rest of my life and I like it that way! So, what'ya think? Got room for a princess like me? :o) Here's what my foster mom says about me: "When Charlotte came off of the transport, her eyes were wide and pleading for love and a stable home. Her previous life kept her from knowing what it was like to play with other dogs, exercise her legs freely, eat enough food whenever she wanted, and to be petted and appreciated. In a short span of time she has learned how to interact with other dogs, run and play, and eat all she wants. She loves the attention of her humans and is a sweet and gentle natured girl. She seems to truely appreciate all that has been done for her in getting her out of her previous life and on the road to her forever home. Won't you consider making room in your heart and home for this rescued little girl?" IF you're worthy of me, I'd love to meet you and grace you with my good looks and awesome personality! Smooches! Charlotte AN UPDATE FROM HER FOSTER: This quiet and gentle girl wants nothing more than to please and be loved. She is learning what it is like to be petted and praised. And she likes it! She especially likes to be scratched behind the ears. She is also learning what it is like to be in a home and household routines. She loves her foster "sister and brother" and snuggles with her foster sister at night. They lay together resting their head on each other. She walks very well on a leash and is already learning sit and come. She responds especially well to a calm approach. Since she has been in her foster home, her nutritional balance is better and she will slowly put on some weight. Given some time, she will blossom into a "well rounded" quiet and faithful companion. Find out how rewarding it can be to teach this poor girl how to love and be loved. Please feel free to fill out an Adoption application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
