Description:
Mina came from a rural puppy mill. She had never lived a day of her life as a normal pet in a home, with the love and attention a pet deserves. She likely spent 24 hours a day in a crate, where she had to eat, sleep and potty. It is possible she has never even been petted in her life. She was just rescued from that terrible life and is now in a special foster home to help her learn what it is like to be a dog.

Because Mina came from a rural breeder, she needs help with socialization and adjusting to life in a home environment. Fenced yards and a home with other stable dogs to show them the ropes are best for dogs coming from this type of situation.

Find out how rewarding it can be to teach this poor girl how to love and be loved.

AN UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER HOME:

Mina is a very sweet little girl that has fit into home life great. She gets along great with the other dogs, is a little intimidated by the big dogs but gives them a little Grrrrr if they overwhelm her. She is a little scared of loud noises but won't go hide, she will just leave the room. We are working on housebreaking and she is doing good but doesn't know how to tell you that she needs to go out. She is ok going up steps but is apprehensive about going down them. She does not know how to jump off of things and will step right off the couch so her family will need to be cautious so she doesn't hurt herself. She is not yippy at all but will bark when she wants in the house and when she is left alone.

This little girl just makes me melt, she is the sweetest. I also think she would be better off going to a home without small children, she is just so fragile.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
