Description:

I'm Champ!
My warm brown eyes say it all: "loving, gentle, calm boy looking for family!"

I was picked up in a rural area, and ended up at a high-kill shelter.  That means they don't give dogs very long to be adopted before we get put to sleep.  However, the staff made an exception for me (which DOES NOT happen often!) because they fell in love with me.  They called local rescues and MARS jumped at the chance to help me out!

Now I am in a wonderful foster home and have exposure to all of life's greatest things!  I live with small active children and do great, I live with 2 cats and do great, and in my many interactions with other dogs I have done great as well!  I just stand there and let them smell me until they are done!  I can be playful at times, but to be honest I am not all that energetic.  I've got that laid-back, "cool guy" attitude about me.  So mature.

One day my foster mom had to stay late at work and could not get anyone to come let me out.  She thought for sure when she came home I would have had an "accident" in the house, but guess what?  I didn't!  So, it's safe to say I am 100% potty-trained!  I also know how to sit, lay down, and stay.  I am very food motivated so it will be a breeze teaching me how to do more tricks!

Ok, my one setback...I get a little curious when I am outside.  It is strongly recommended that I go to a home with a fenced yard or tie out in the yard, because I have been known to bolt.  I REALLY love being outside, so I would prefer a fence over a tie-out, if possible (I know, I know...picky, picky).  I was not neutered when I first came to MARS (now am), so it could be that those "roaming tendencies" just are not out of my system, but regardless I do NOT want to go back to the pound!  So, I need to be kept safe and sound from my own curiosities.

Other than that one, tiny thing I am a wonderful boy who is guaranteed to enhance your family's life!  Fill out an adoption application for me so you can meet me in person, and my big hound ears will stun you more than they do in my pictures!  :-)

Love,
Champ

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
