Meet Janis:

Janis and her companions were found abandoned at an oil rig in rural Arkansas.  We aren't sure if they were true siblings or simply a small pack that lived together. Thankfully the good samaritan that found them brought all of them to the local shelter for a chance at a good life.  When MARS heard their story we knew we had to help them.  So off they came to MN for their 2nd chance at a happy life.

All of her siblings have found their forever families. However, poor sweet Janis is still waiting for a family to call her own.  She's spending her life in rescue which just isn't fair.  She really deserves a home to call her own.

  • Housebroken (knows how to use a doggie door)
  • Trained to use a crate
  • She bonds to her people once she knows them and is very affectionate.
  • She loves to occupy her time with a good ole bone to chew on while you're busy; especially if it's rawhide.
  • She gets along great with other dogs, she loves to run and play with them.
  • Will sit for treats, food motivated for training

She has not been around cats so we don't know how she would do with a feline companion in the home.

Janis is a super sweet girl. She acts a lot like a puppy, loves to play, run around the yard and chew on things you may leave laying around.

She is a bit of a barker when anyone she doesn't know real well comes into the house.

She is totally house trained and kennel trained. She has been spayed and is healthy.  She will be a great dog for the right family, she loves lots of attention and to be with her people, she also seems to get along fine with all other dogs she has been around.

Her foster mom has 3 grandchildren; ages 1, 3 and 5.  Janis hangs out around the children with no problem.  With the love of her foster family, she blossomed and gained enough confidence to be the only dog in her forever home.

Her foster mom says "she's just a love, smart and such a super nice dog".  Without a doubt she'll be your best friend and will stick by your side through all life sends your way.

Could you be this sweet pea's new best friend and family?

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
