Description:

Jana came from a rural puppy mill. She has never lived a day of her life as a normal pet in a home, with the love and attention a pet deserves. It is possible she has never even been petted in her life. She is being rescued from that terrible life, but now she needs a special family to help her learn what it is like to be a dog.

Because Jana is from a rural breeder, it is likely that she will not be potty trained when she arrives. She will also need help with socialization and adjusting to life in a home environment. Fenced yards and a home with other stable dogs to show them the ropes are best for dogs coming from this type of situation.

UPDATE FROM JANA'S FOSTER: Jana is very shy girl, but very sweet. Progress has been made in the couple days that I have had her. She wags her tail when i come up to her crate. She is still is very submissive, crouching down when you come near her, but she will come up to you, lick your hand and walk back to the corner :) She will walk a few steps towards you to take a treat. She is starting to relax a little when being petted, and when you stop she will wag her tail and moves a little closer to you! She has been using the pee pads very consistently and keeps her crate very clean.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
